Live images of the Geirangerfjord and Dalsnibba

Cameras at Geiranger harbour, in Hellesylt, on Dalsnibba and on the mountain roads show what it looks like on the fjord and in the mountains right now. They are run by the port authority of Stranda municipality, the operator of Dalsnibba and the Norwegian Public Roads Administration. The images open on their websites.

Geiranger harbour

At Geiranger harbour, Stranda Hamnevesen KF runs a live camera. Stranda Hamnevesen is the port authority of Stranda municipality and is based in Geiranger. You can open the camera on the Stranda Hamnevesen webcam page, which also has the two cameras in Hellesylt.

How to get to Geiranger by ferry, boat or car is covered under Getting there.

Hellesylt and Hellesyltfossen

Two more Stranda Hamnevesen cameras are in Hellesylt on the Sunnylvsfjord:

  • Hellesylt: a live image of the village.
  • Hellesyltfossen: a still image of the waterfall that flows right through the village.

Both are on the same page as the Geiranger harbour camera. What else Hellesylt has to offer is covered under Day trips.

Dalsnibba

On Dalsnibba, Geiranger Skysslag AS, the operator of the road up the mountain, provides a regularly refreshed camera image: Dalsnibba webcam. The road up Dalsnibba is closed in winter. Season, opening hours and the view are described on the Dalsnibba page.

Statens vegvesen road cameras

Statens vegvesen, the Norwegian Public Roads Administration, runs weather and road cameras along its roads. Two of them are on the mountain roads around Geiranger.

Korsmyra

At Korsmyra, on the road between Geiranger and Eidsdal, the Korsmyra camera shows two images, one of them looking towards Geiranger. This road, Ørnevegen (Eagle Road), also gets you to Geiranger in winter.

Trollstigen

At Trollstigen, the Trollstigen camera looks towards Valldal and towards Åndalsnes.

What the images show

Each camera only shows part of the picture. Three points help when you plan your day:

  • Village and summit: An image from the village tells you little about the view at the top. On the summit of Dalsnibba it is much colder than in Geiranger.
  • Image and road status: An image without snow does not mean a road is open. The mountain roads are closed in winter and, even after reopening, can be closed at times at night and in bad weather. Nasjonale turistveger (National Tourist Routes) shows whether a road is open.
  • Forecast: How the weather will develop over the next few days is covered under Weather.
